Reeds and Rushes Wedding Venue | Light and Airy Photography

The Wedding

This was my first time shooting at the brand new Reeds and Rushes wedding venue in Howard Lake, Minnesota, and it was a dream! The light and airy decor was the perfect touch to make the space feel simple and timeless. Colton and Rayna’s joy really shined through the photos and I absolutely love how candid and authentic the pictures feel of their playful love. This wedding was special for other reasons as well because my close friends are in the bridal party and I just photographed Colton’s brother and new sister-in-law’s wedding earlier this March!

Some of my favorite photos of the day are from after the ceremony where you can really see Colton and Rayna’s fun personalities come through. I love it when couples really feel like they can be themselves and act like the camera isn’t there. It allows me to capture that priceless newlywed excitement and creates pictures that I know they will treasure forever.

I also loved the color scheme of the bridesmaid dresses with the groomsmen’s navy suits! The whole look complimented the lush and green backdrop and made for some lovely bridal party portraits! The rain JUST missed us and we definitely took advantage of the outdoor scenery to get those bright and evenly lit photos that everyone dreams of!

The day finished with a LOT of dancing, fun games, and sweet smiles all around. Colton and Rayna planned their wedding in under 6 months and you’d never know! Even with their more intimate guest list, they proved that they definitely know how to have a good party! I also loved the big, bright windows that the venue features, and with the contrast of the black statement wall, the space was the perfect amount of moody without being too dark.
