Colton and Megan’s Wedding
June 15, 2019
How they met:
“Colton and I met our freshman year of college. He is from Saint Joseph, Missouri and I am from Woodbury, Minnesota, but we both attended the University of Missouri. He lived on the same dorm floor as I did. We started out as just best friends and thought nothing of each other, but then second semester of college came and I all of a sudden got a huge crush on him! After a few months of me chasing after him, he finally decided to give in and take me out on a date. We officially started dating in April of 2014 and have been so happy ever since!”

How he proposed:
“We got engaged on December 23, 2017 in Saint Joseph, MO. His brother and his brother’s wife recently had twin girls and they had a baby dedication at their church that morning. After the dedication, we went out to a local park and had a photographer take family pictures. They had each couple do some couple pictures, and they saved us for the end. Colton’s mom said she wanted us to do a picture where I was looking in the distance and Colton was walking toward me. I really didn’t want to do this, because it sounded kind of dumb to me, but Colton insisted. So I stood in front and smiled at the camera, but Colton wasn’t walking toward me. He was actually down on one knee! So when I thought we were done with the pictures I turned around and saw him down on one knee and he asked me to marry him. We both cried a lot (he won’t admit it though)! We then got to drive up to see my family in Minnesota that same day and announce it to them as well. It was the happiest day of our lives!”

The Wedding Day
Colton and Megan’s wedding began rainy, but we had a rainy photo plan! I suggested that they bring a tarp to put on top of this white archway so they could stand underneath for bridal party photos. Almquist Farm was also prepared with a ton of clear umbrellas to do a fun umbrella photo! I just loved the romantic feel of having the umbrella’s during the first look. I was nearly in tears watching Colton crying during the first look AND the ceremony!! Colton and Megan were positive throughout the rain and were filled with love and laughter. I’m so thankful they trusted me with my suggestions to navigate the rain and that they still went for an outdoor ceremony even though it was raining an hour before the ceremony started. Their family was so supportive, loving, and fun! Thank you both for choosing me to capture your amazing day. I hope you all enjoy these photos!
