As a Naples photographer specializing in proposals, engagements and weddings, one of my greatest joys is capturing life’s most meaningful moments. Recently, I had the incredible honor of photographing the beautiful proposal of Kate and Dylan at Naples Pier Beach. This story is one that’s especially close to my heart, as I’ve known Kate for years, she’s an insanely talented wedding videographer, and being part of her big moment was an unforgettable experience!
How I Met Kate
I first met Kate nearly three years ago while we were working together at a wedding, capturing photo and video. From the moment we met, we connected so well that we stayed in touch even though I was living in Minnesota, and Kate was in Florida. At the time, I didn’t know yet I would become a Naples photographer and be moving to Florida! Over time, we not only collaborated professionally but also became close friends. Kate is such a talented, kind-hearted person, and when I learned she had found someone special, I couldn’t have been happier for her.
Dylan, her now-fiancé, is from Minnesota, and the two had been navigating a long-distance relationship. When Dylan reached out to me with his plan to propose to Kate, I was beyond thrilled to help make it happen—and one of the Naples photographers now in the area, even more honored to capture the moment for them!
Planning the Proposal at Naples Pier Beach
The proposal took place just before Thanksgiving, a time when Kate and Dylan already had plans to spend time together in Florida. The day started with a little bit of creative planning and teamwork. Dylan flew into Florida, and while Kate thought she was dropping him off at the airport to return to Minnesota, I was actually there to pick him up and help him get ready for the big moment!
We spent the day running errands and gathering everything we needed to create a dreamy proposal setup on Naples Pier Beach. As a photographer in Naples, FL, I know how important the little details are when it comes to creating the most picture-perfect proposal. Finding enough flowers to decorate the scene wasn’t easy—we went to four or five grocery stores—but it was so worth it. Together, we designed a simple yet beautiful display in the sand, making the beach an unforgettable backdrop for their engagement.
Meanwhile, Kate’s friend Anna worked behind the scenes to make sure Kate looked her best without suspecting a thing. Anna invited her to “model” for her hair salon business, convincing her to dress up for a photoshoot on the beach.
The Surprise Proposal in Naples, Florida
When Kate arrived at Naples Pier Beach, she thought she was walking into a modeling session for Anna—but to her complete surprise, Dylan was waiting for her instead. As soon as she saw him, her face lit up with joy and disbelief. Right there on the sand, with the ocean waves behind them, Dylan got down on one knee and asked Kate to spend forever with him.
Of course, Kate said yes! The moment was filled with so much love, happiness, and pure emotion that I found myself tearing up behind the camera. As both a friend and one of the many Naples photographers, it was truly an honor to be chosen to document such a special moment in their story!
Looking Ahead to Their Wedding
Capturing Kate and Dylan’s proposal was such a privilege, and their friend and photographer, I couldn’t be happier for this amazing couple. It’s clear that their love story is one for the books, and I’m so excited to continue this journey with them. This summer, I’ll have the honor of photographing their wedding at Redeemed Farm in Minnesota, and I can already tell it’s going to be a stunning celebration of love.
